The Securities and Futures Commission in Hong Kong has recruited from overseas for a new Executive Director of Enforcement.
The new enforcer, appointed by the Financial Secretary, is Thomas Atkinson who is currently the Director of the Enforcement Branch of Ontario Securities Commission, (OSC), Canada. He will be employed for a three-year term effective from 3 May 2016.
Atkinson was appointed as the OSC’s Director of Enforcement in 2009. Prior to that, he was the founding president and CEO of Market Regulation Services.
He also held positions at the Toronto Stock Exchange and was an assistant Crown attorney from 1993 to 1996 for the Ontario Court of Justice.
