Pirates of the Caribbean

Somewhat surprising is Naratil’s choice of «The Republic of Pirates» by Colin Woodard, a factual novel based on an attempt by 18th century pirates to establish a democratic base on the Bahamas. Does the banker harbor anarchic tendencies, or hanker after the free-wheeling financial day, or is it simply historical curiosity, as Naratil says? Whoever is planning a Caribbean beach holiday could do worse than dip into this tome.
