Credit Suisse has made a series of appointments to its private banking unit for Singapore, sources told finews.asia, including new hires from HSBC and Bank of Singapore.

Shirley Law has been named market leader for Singapore, according to a memo seen by finews.asia, reporting to Singapore market group head Dominique Boer

Law has 20 years of wealth management experience and she first joined Credit Suisse in 2013 as a team leader. Previously, she was a senior banker at UBS for eight years covering Asian markets, including Greater China.

Team Leaders

Reporting to Law will be three newly appointed team leaders: ex-Malaysia market team leader Kent Choi, Siang Jin Foo and Luke Hui.

Foo and Hui will join Credit Suisse later this month from HSBC and Bank of Singapore, respectively.

A spokesperson for the bank confirmed the new appointments.

Still Expanding

Despite recent talent outflows to rivals such as J.P. Morgan Private Bank which hired Koh Bee Eng to lead its Singapore trust unit and Citi Private Bank which hired Lillian Liao as its global market head for China, Credit Suisse continues to expand in the region.

Year-to-date, it has made 100 net hires in Asia Pacific across all levels and functions including 30 relationship managers in the first quarter. Notable additions include ex-Deutsche banker Malcolm Tay as its deputy market group head for Indonesia, former HSBC private banker Arleen Sy and Rohit Narayanan from Bank of Singapore.

«Having generated good growth momentum in the Singapore market this year, we believe that we are well-positioned to achieve greater success driven by our talented new joiners and the strong leadership team in the Singapore market,» said Jin Yee Young, market group head Singapore, Malaysia and South Asia Switzerland, on the latest appointments.
