HSBC: Most HNWIs Expect Positive Equity Gains
While geopolitics is cited as a leading megatrend, wealthy individuals in Hong Kong and Singapore remain confident that local and US equities will end the year on a positive note.
More than half of high net worth individuals in Hong Kong and Singapore (55 percent) forecast that the S&P 500, Hang Seng Index and Straits Times Index will rise by at least 5 to 10 percent in 2025, according to the «HSBC Private Wealth Market Pulse Survey». 92 percent of respondents also maintain a neutral to positive outlook for Asia's economic prospects in 2025.
Even sentiments farther on the horizon are positive with 43 percent of respondents naming North America as home to the best long-term opportunities over the next decade, followed by Asia at 28 percent. Only 11 percent are choosing to hold cash.
Divided on Geopolitical Impact
While respondents agreed that geopolitical developments are the next leading megatrend, views on its impact are divided. 22 percent see them as investment opportunities while 27 percent consider them a risk.
The survey was based on online responses from 200 high net worth individuals in Hong Kong and Singapore with at least $1 million of investable assets.
