VP Bank has hired a 20-year veteran to join as its chief risk officer for Asia following its latest shift to a larger office in Hong Kong for expansion.

Chris Chee joins VP Bank as chief risk officer (CRO) Asia, according to a statement, pending regulatory approval.

Based in Hong Kong, Chee will be responsible for all risk management strategies and operations while also supervising the bank’s legal and compliance functions in the region.

He reports regionally to Asia chief executive Pamela Hsu Phua and functionally to group CRO Patrick Bont.

Chee has 20 years of industry experience, most recently with BIL Wealth Management where he was its chief legal, risk and compliance officer. Previously, he also held related leadership positions at Royal Bank of Canada, ANZ, UBS and DBS across China, Hong Kong and Singapore.
