Japan’s Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation announced new Singapore-based co-heads for the Asia Pacific division.
Yuichi Nishimura and Rajeev Kannan have been named managing executive officers and co-heads of the Asia Pacific division at SMBC, according to a statement, effective April 1 this year.
The two will be based in Singapore, SMBC’s APAC hub.
SMBC Vets
Nishimura has spent more than three decades with SMBC, beginning in Tokyo in 1989 when he joined what was then known as TaiyoKobe Bank. He was most recently SMBC's managing executive officer and deputy head of the Americas division based out of New York.
Kannan has over 27 years of banking experience, most recently as SMBC’s deputy head of the APAC division and general manager of corporate banking. He also sits on the board for the Clifford Capital Group of companies, Pierfront Capital Pte Ltd, Fullerton India Credit Company Limited and ESR Cayman Limited.
