BNP Paribas Wealth Management has hired an industry veteran and former private banker from Pictet to lead its Greater China market.
Ruth Chung joins BNP Paribas Wealth Management as market head of Greater China, according to a statement, effective immediately.
Based in Singapore, Chung is responsible for leading the Greater China market, including the Taiwan offshore teams in the city-state and Hong Kong.
Chung reports directly to North Asia head and Hong Kong chief executive Michael Yong-Haron and locally to head of Singapore and Southeast Asia David Lim.
Industry Veteran
Chung is a 30-year private banking veteran, most recently as a Greater China market group head at Pictet. Previously, Chung spent over two decades with UBS in various leadership roles with the Taiwan international business, China international business and Greater China ultra-high net worth business in Hong Kong and Singapore. She also co-founded external asset manager Sino Suisse Capital where she was previously the CEO of its Singapore office.
«As the wealth creation in Asia continues to grow, both Singapore and Hong Kong are key to supporting the increasingly sophisticated wealth needs of Greater China clients,» said BNP Paribas Wealth Management’s APAC CEO Arnaud Tellier.
«BNP Paribas Wealth Management has very established teams in Hong Kong to serve our Greater China clients, and we are committed to building the same capability in Singapore to complement our unique offering to our clients.»
