British bank continues to expand its investment banking business in Asia by hiring an HSBC industry veteran.
Hossein Zaimi has been named head of markets for Asia Pacific at Barclays, according to a statement released by the bank.
Based in Hong Kong, Zaimi reports functionally to the co-heads of global markets, Adeel Khan and Stephen Dainton, as well as regionally to the APAC head of Barclays, Jaideep Khanna.
Zaimi has nearly 30 years of financial experience, most recently at HSBC where he spent the past 17 years in various senior roles including global head of equities, global co-head of securities financing, and global markets executive committee member. Previously, he also worked for Crédit Lyonnais and Salmon Smith Barney.
APAC Expansion
The latest hire is part of broader plans for Barclays to expand in the region, particularly in China, India, Singapore, and Australia.
The bank also recently named Carrie Chen and Raymond Yu as Greater China co-heads of investment banking, Pushkaraj Gumaste as APAC, and Middle East head of corporate banking, as well as Duncan Beattie andDuncan Connellan as managing directors in the Australia investment banking unit.
