HSBC has internally announced the appointment of a new head of global banking for the Middle East, North Africa and Turkey.
HSBC appoints Julian Wentzel as head of global banking for the Middle East, North Africa and Turkey (MENAT), according to a «Reuters» report citing an internal memo. Based in Dubai, Wentzel succeeds Gareth Thomas who is taking on the new role of chief risk officer for the MENAT region.
A search is already underway for a successor to Wentzel’s previous role as head of global banking for the UK.
Wentzel has over three decades of experience, having joined HSBC in 2015 as its head of banking for Africa before becoming its UK head of global banking in 2019. Previously, he also worked at Macquarie Group and Cazenove.
