UK-based asset manager Abrdn has hired an ex-Matthews Asia executive as its head of wholesale distribution for Hong Kong.
Tina Tong joins Abrdn as head of wholesale distribution, Hong Kong, according to a statement, reporting to APAC head of wholesale David Hanzl.
In the newly created role, Tong will be responsible for strengthening relationships with key intermediary distributors and delivering the firm's wholesale value proposition to clients in Hong Kong.
Tong has over 20 years of experience, most recently as the vice president for distribution at Matthews Asia where she spent 10 years focused on fund distribution activities to private banks, family offices, fund of funds, external asset managers and insurance companies. Previously, she also worked at Peak Capital as a director of business development.
