Prudential’s asset management arm has hired a head for its Australasia institutional relationship group.

PGIM appoints Murray Brewer as head of institutional relationship group (IRG) for Australia and New Zealand, according to a statement. Based in Sydney, Brewer reports to Asia ex-Japan head of IRG Philip Hsin.

In the role, Brewer leads a client-facing team that partners with chief investment officers of major institutions and senior fiduciary decision-makers to address investment challenges. He will develop and implement an institutional client strategy while working closely with all PGIM business units to bring the firm’s full suite of capabilities to Australian institutional investors.

Murray has over 30 years of investment management experience in the Australasia region, most recently as Australia country head at Capital Group. 

Prior to that, he spent 14 years as country head of distribution for Australia and New Zealand at T. Rowe Price. Previously, he also worked at Schroders Investment Management, AMP Asset Management, Lloyds Bank and Westpac Financial Services.

Local Presence

PGIM established its presence in Australia in 2011 and has since grown the local team to 24 employees with domestic investment manufacturing capabilities across real estate private equity and debt, debt financing and more. 

In 2022, it also expanded into Australia’s wholesale and private wealth market with the appointment of Benjamin Price as head of Australia wealth. 

PGIM has offices in 18 countries worldwide and as of 31 December 2022, it had more than $1.2 trillion in assets under management.
