Singapore-based multi-family office Golden Equator Wealth has hired two former Credit Suisse bankers to expand market coverage.
Rai Rummaan Kharal joins Golden Equator Wealth (GEW) as a managing partner, according to a statement, reporting to founder and group CEO Shirley Crystal Chua.
In the role, Kharal will focus on establishing and growing client relationships, assessing market opportunities, developing the multi-family office business strategy and leading a team of family office advisors. He will also help bring more capital markets deal flow and develop the capital side of the firm which includes venture and private capital businesses.
Kharal has more than 25 years of wealth management and corporate banking experience, most recently as a market and team lead at Credit Suisse to service ultra-high net worth (UHNW) families in the South Asia region. Previously, he also worked at Deutsche Bank for 18 years across corporate banking, investment and wealth management.
Executive Director
In addition, GEW has also hired fellow ex-Credit Suisse colleague Haroon Tufail as an executive director, reporting to Kharal. He is tasked with providing investment and multi-generational wealth planning solutions for UHNW families.
Tufail has nearly 20 years of wealth management and portfolio management experience, working with UHNW clients in the UAE, Pakistan and Singapore. He was most recently a relationship manager at Credit Suisse.
Expansion Plans
In the next 24 months, GEW is looking to hire more senior family office advisors as part of broader plans to achieve «multifold» growth in assets under management.
«We have a strong roadmap to expand our multi-family office business and will continue to add more capabilities in client-facing and investment roles as well as other value-added wealth services,» said Chua.
GEW was founded in 2011 and currently has clients in over 12 countries. It provides investment management and legacy planning solutions for UHNW clients with a focus on alternative investment capabilities.
