As Georges Elhedery succeeds Noel Quinn to take on the top job at HSBC, an interim chief financial officer has been named until a permanent replacement has been found.
HSBC has appointed Jonathan (Jon) Bingham as interim group chief financial officer (CFO), according to a statement, effective September 2. He will not be appointed as an executive director. He will retain his existing responsibilities as global financial controller, overseeing a global team and providing stewardship of external financial, regulatory, ESG (environmental, social and governance) and tax reporting.
Prior to joining HSBC in 2020, Bingham worked at KPMG for 20 years including the final 10 years as banking partner.
Search For Successor
Meanwhile, a search for a permanent group CFO is underway and an update will be provided on the outcome in due course.
«Jon has outstanding technical accounting and regulatory knowledge and expertise and was the clear choice to provide interim succession for the Group CFO role,» commented HSBC group chief executive designate Georges Elhedery.
