Reinsurer Pacific Life Re has announced a series of new senior appointments for its protection business in Asia Pacific.

Pacific Life Re has promoted Tyson Johnston to the role of managing director, protection, Asia Pacific & global strategy, according to a statement, reporting to Andrew Gill, executive vice president of global protection. 

«Over the last seven years, Tyson has demonstrated excellent strategic leadership and we’re confident he will drive our growth in the Asia Pacific region,» Gill commented.

Succession

Johnston is currently managing director of the Australian business and head of global protection strategy. Many of these responsibilities will be assumed by 25-year veteran Martyn Gilling, current head of client solutions, Australia, who will take on a new role as general manager, protection, Australia.  

Matthew Larkin will succeed Gilling as the new Australia head of client solutions.
