Zurich-based Julius Baer has expanded its Asia business in Switzerland with the hire of a 20-year APAC private banking veteran.
Julius Baer has appointed Reto Buerer as team head Asia Switzerland, according to a statement. Based in Zurich, he reports to Christian Cappelli, head Asia Switzerland.
Buerer has over 20 years of wealth management experience covering ultra-high net worth clients across Asia Pacific, including Australia and New Zealand. He was most recently working at UBS, heading Southeast Asia coverage for Credit Suisse out of Switzerland.
The Swiss pure-play private bank has been hiring for its Asia business in Switzerland in the past year. In May, it appointed Serena Wong as senior relationship manager, relocating from Singapore to Zurich. In October 2023, the bank also added Fernando Kresna Baay as team head as well as Jacqlyn Mak and Christophe Amadieu as senior relationship managers.
