Toronto-headquartered Sun Life has hired the former Asia chief executive officer of rival insurer Aviva.
Sun Life has appointed Randy Lianggara as president, emerging markets, Asia, according to a statement, effective November 1. He will join the insurer’s Asia executive team and report to Manjit Singh, president Sun Life Asia.
In the newly created role, Lianggara will help drive growth across the firm’s emerging markets in Indonesia, Vietnam and Malaysia as well as oversee the joint venture with China Everbright Group in mainland China.
Lianggara joins Sun Life from Aviva where he held senior roles including regional CEO, Asia and regional CEO, China, Indonesia and Vietnam. Prior to that, he worked at AXA Indonesia for 10 years as CEO.
