Private market secondaries manager Coller Capital has hired a former wealth executive from alternatives firm Blue Owl in Hong Kong.
Coller Capital has appointed Pak-Seng Lai as head of PWSS (private wealth secondaries solutions) – APAC within the PWSS team, according to a statement.
In the role, he will spearhead the firm’s PWSS business in APAC, providing private wealth investors access to the private equity and private credit secondaries market through a diversified, institutional-grade quality portfolio. Based in Hong Kong, he reports to Boris Maeder, head of international private wealth distribution.
Lai has more than 20 years of private market fundraising and portfolio construction experience. He was most recently managing director and head of private wealth distribution, APAC at Blue Owl Capital. Prior to that, he oversaw the APAC private markets business at UBS. He also previously worked at HQ Capital and Schroder Adveq.
PWSS Expansion in Asia
Lai’s appointment marks another move to expand Coller’s wealth business in the region. In January, it appointed Peter Wu as head of product management, private wealth, in the firm’s newly opened Singapore office. The PWSS team in Hong Kong will also be joined by Mavis Huang from Vontobel. Globally, the PWSS consists of 35 dedicated professionals.
