UK-based Barclays has announced two senior appointments for its corporate banking arm in Singapore.
Barclays has appointed Vijay Shankar U.S. as managing director, head of global transaction banking, APAC & Middle East and Amaar Khan as managing director, chief information officer (CIO) & head of corporate banking technology, APAC & Middle East, according to a statement. In the newly created role, they will both be based out of Singapore.
Shankar has more than 38 years of experience including a background in transaction banking across APAC. He was most recently executive director at ANZ Bank where he established transaction banking across Asia. Prior to that, he worked at Standard Chartered and Deutsche Bank.
Khan has over 27 years of experience in technology, having delivered high impact transformation projects in Europe, the Middle East and APAC. He was previously managing director, CIO and head of engineering for APAC at Bank of New York (BNY). Prior to that, he worked at Bank of Singapore, Standard Chartered, Citi and Credit Suisse.
