London-based Barclays has announced the appointment of a head of equities for Asia Pacific.

Barclays has appointed Paul Johnson as head of equities for Asia Pacific, according to a statement. Based in Hong Kong, he will lead the bank’s equities business in the region with a focus on equity derivatives, equity-linked financing and electronic trading. He will also oversee the prime brokerage business.

Johnson has more than 20 years of equities and derivatives experience, most recently at Goldman Sachs as APAC co-head of equity derivatives and head of exotics equity derivatives trading in Hong Kong. Prior to that, he also worked at Bank of America in London as head of Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa (CEEMEA) and Latin America foreign exchange options (FXO) trading.
