Hana Financial Group has opened a private banking center catering to foreigners in the upmarket neighborhood of Yeoksam in Gangnam District.
According to Hana it is the nation’s first private banking center exclusively for foreigners. As with many other Asian and regional neighbours the main clients of the center are expected to be affluent Chinese.
Therefore the group plans to attract funds from these clients by providing not only asset management services through the investment in real estate, stock, funds, and bonds, but also information services about domestic companies’ sales, investment, tax, and law.
Hana Financial Group said its private banking center will be staffed by employees with years of experience in corporate finance, Chinese language skills and experience of doing business in China.
“The IPC (International PB Center) will be the model for a new channel for Hana Financial Group,” said Kim Jung-tai, Hana Financial Group Chairman, at the opening ceremony.
Starting with the first IPC in southern Seoul, the Hana Financial Group plans to open other centers in Jeju Island, Busan, Incheon, Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong, New York, and Canada, completing its global network within this year.
