Richard Titherington, Chief Investment Officer of Emerging Markets and Asia Pacific Equities, has relocated to Hong Kong from London to lead the company’s regional investment team.
Meanwhile, Ted Pulling, the previous Chief Investment Officer of the firm’s Pacific Regional Group (PRG) has decided to relocate back to the United States with his family and remains with the company.
Titherington is no stranger to Hong Kong, having previously worked there for 14 years. “For me, this move feels like coming home and I couldn’t be more pleased. The firm has a long and proud history in the region, backed by a very strong group of investment professionals. I am honoured to have been entrusted with this role and am very excited about the prospects for our team,” he said.
The Emerging Markets and Asia Pacific Equities team was formed in April 2015 by merging two equity teams within J.P. Morgan Asset Management—the PRG and the Global Emerging Market Equity (GEM) team.
Built on the PRG’s country specialist teams and the GEM team’s deep research capabilities, the firm’s uniquely broad investment capability enables it to better serve its clients, as well as giving it an unparalleled industry position from a country, regional and global product standpoint.
Titherington was previously Head of the 42-strong Global Emerging Markets team, which has grown its assets under management to USD 40 billion under his leadership. Combined with the USD 50 billion managed by the PRG and its 60 investment professionals, the Emerging Markets and Asia Pacific Equities team manages over USD 90 billion, and has 100 investment professionals.
