Joseph Kwok will step down from his role as deputy general manager of Singapore-based Aviva subsidiary Professional Investment Advisory Service (PIAS), effective from 25 November.
Morgan Stanley has hired dealmaker Peter Chu from Goldman Sachs ahead of an expected parade of multi-billion-dollar initial public offerings from the technology, media and telecommunications sector. Chu will join Daniel Wetstein as co-head of Asia Pacific TMT in December.
Watson Farley & Williams has appointed Rosa Ng Sin Kiu as a corporate partner at its Hong Kong office from Squire Patton Boggs. Ng advises on areas including M&A, regulatory compliances, IPOs, secondary equity and equity-linked offerings and joint ventures between Chinese clients and foreign parties. She also represents issuers and underwriters in securities listings on the Main Board and GEM Board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
East Capital, an asset manager that focuses on emerging and frontier markets, has named socially responsible investments specialist Francois Perrin as a portfolio manager in charge of Greater China. Perrin, based in Hong Kong, will work alongside portfolio manager Dmitriy Vlasov and the fund's team of analysts.
Aberdeen Asset Management confirmed its Asian equity investment director, Chong Yoon-Chou, will be leaving the firm at the end of January. Chong Yoon-Chou joined Aberdeen in 1994 as a graduate trainee. In the earlier part of his career, he was involved in refining Aberdeen AM’s investment process and portfolio construction techniques.
J.P. Morgan Asset Management has hired Ayaz Ebrahim. He joins from Amundi Hong Kong where he was CIO Asia ex-Japan equities and deputy chief executive for Asia. Ebrahim will be based in Hong Kong and will report to Richard Titherington, CIO of EMAP Equities team.
