Swiss bank UBS, the largest private bank in Asia Pacific, has named Edmund Koh as Head of UBS Wealth Management Asia Pacific. Koh is currently Head of UBS Wealth Management South East Asia and Asia Pacific Hub, which covers the domestic businesses of China, Taiwan and Japan.
Koh, who is also a member of the UBS Global Wealth Management Executive Board and Country Head of UBS Singapore, joined UBS in early 2012 following over 20 years in the Asian financial services industry where he had built a strong track record in leading and building successful businesses. Prior to joining UBS, Koh was President and Director of Ta Chong Bank and before that was Managing Director and Regional Head of the Consumer Banking Group at DBS Bank.
He takes over from Kathryn Shih, who has been named President of UBS Asia Pacific. These appointments are effective 1 January 2016.
Juerg Zeltner, President of UBS Wealth Management, said: “Edmund is a seasoned banker who brings to the role a deep knowledge of banking and financial services in Asia Pacific. Since joining UBS in early 2012, Edmund has taken a crucial role in successfully building our business in the region and has been key to implementing our strategy. His extensive experience in the financial industry and in the successful development of new markets, positions him well to lead UBS Wealth Management into the next phase in developing the strong position we have built in Asia Pacific."
Juerg Zeltner said: "Today, UBS Wealth Management is the undisputed leader in wealth management in Asia Pacific. Kathryn Shih has led the wealth management business of UBS in Asia Pacific extremely successfully for the past 13 years. We would like to thank her for the leadership and outstanding contribution and wish her every success in her new role."
It is thought Koh will be based in Singapore.
