After announcing a new alliance in Vietnam last month, international law firm Taylor Wessing has now tied up with a local Hong Kong firm.
The new Taylor Wessing office in Hong Kong has been set up through an association with local firm HM Chan & Co. The firm will specialise in corporate, capital markets, M&A and regulatory and compliance work.
German partner Jakob Riemenschneider who has relocated to Asia from Munich, will lead the new business. Chan & Co was established last year by managing partner Mark Chan who was previously with Berwin Leighton Paisner’s Hong Kong office.
Extensive Asian Network
The new Hong Kong office further strengthens Taylor Wessing’s already extensive capability across Asia, which comprises a network of more than 950 lawyers in South East Asia operating through its ASEAN+ Group. The firm also has established offices in Shanghai and Beijing.
«Given our considerable experience in supporting international businesses develop in the Asia region, having operated in China for 20 years and Singapore for five, we are well placed to support our clients to capitalise on these opportunities and Hong Kong is the natural next step for our growth,» said Tim Eyles Taylor Wessing Managing Partner.
