The rapid rise in wealth creation in Asia has been accompanied by a strong interest in impact investing. UBS has been keen to engage its Ultra Net Worth Clients in this area and has appointed a well known Impact Investing expert to enhance this offering.
The former Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) Executive Director James Gifford has been appointed Senior Impact Investing Strategist at UBS Wealth Management.
The new role is a global one and will see Gifford based in UBS' Hong Kong office, he will report to Andrew Lee, (pictured) UBS WM’s Head of Impact Investing and Private Markets.
Together with the task of activating capital from UBS’s ultra-high net worth clients into impact initiatives he will be expected to shape the bank’s thought leadership and strategy on impact investing.
Gifford’s appointment comes on the back of the recruitment of Michael Baldinger, the former Robeco SAM Chief Executive Officer, as UBS Asset Management’s head of sustainable and impact investing based in New York.
