Global law firm Baker McKenzie has made two senior leadership appointments in its Asia Pacific business. The moves will see a new Managing Director for the Asia-Pacific.

In Sydney, the firm has appointed Anthony Foley as Australia Managing Partner, replacing Chris Freeland. Foley will commence the new position on 1 April 2017, the firm said in a note to finews.asia.

In taking up the new post of Managing Partner, Foley, who has been with Baker McKenzie for almost three decades, leaves his current position as head of the Firm's Technology, Communications & Commercial practice in Australia.

New Position Created

Meanwhile, Chris Freeland will take up the role of Managing Director, Asia Pacific. In this newly created position, he will take a leading role in the Firm's strategy implementation and business services operations in Asia Pacific, as well as serving on the Firm's regional leadership team.

Freeland built a strong track record of success during his six year tenure as Australia Managing Partner, including growing the ranks of the Australian Firm, opening a third office in Brisbane, and increasing the Firm's revenue and client base.
