Investment manager M&G promoted from within in naming a new chief executive for the Asia-Pacific.
Alex Jeffrey is to become head of Asia Pacific for M&G’s Asian businesses, reflecting the growing importance of M&G’s investment and distribution capabilities in the region, the firm said in a statement.
Jeffrey has been chief executive of M&G Real Estate since July 2012 and is also a director of its parent company M&G Investments, the investment arm of Prudential Plc.
Before joining M&G Real Estate, he was a founding shareholder and global chief investment officer of MGPA, an independent private equity real estate investment advisory business, based in Singapore. He has also worked in various senior investment management and corporate finance roles at Lend Lease Corporation, J.P. Morgan and HSBC.
All local offices will report to Jeffrey from the second quarter of 2018 when he relocates to Singapore from London, at which time he will step down as chief executive of M&G Real Estate, the real estate fund management arm of M&G Investments.
Following the transition to his new role, Simon Pilcher, chief executive of M&G’s Institutional Fixed Income business, will assume board level responsibility for M&G Real Estate, supported by M&G Real Estate’s senior management team.
