Menon also announced the MAS has joined the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Media Lab in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The collaboration is expected to help to strengthen Singapore’s talent pool in the fintech industry, by providing Singapore-based industry professionals and researchers with opportunities to work alongside MIT researchers. Financial institutions and fintech players will be able to participate in pilots and experiments in a wide range of financial-services projects.

In the past few years more than 400 enterprises have set up base in Singapore, the start-ups are experimenting with new ways to pay, save, invest, buy insurance, and plan for retirement.

To support the exponential growth the entire building at 80 Robinson Road will now become a fintech innovation hub, It will be named 80RR and consist of 100,000 square feet dedicated to housing fintechs in the heart of the financial district within close proximity to both local and international banks and financial services firms.
