Whose career in Swiss banking ended in 2017? finews.asia showcases the year's biggest departures.

1. Juerg Zeltner –  Bank Corp War Horse

Juerg Zeltner 501

His sudden departure at UBS made international headlines, but Juerg Zeltner's exit from Switzerland's largest bank after a 30-year career was anything but a surprise, as finews.asia reported. The last top executive remaining from Bank Corporation, one of the two Swiss banks which merged in 1998 to form UBS, Zeltner missed his targets and became vulnerable and controversial over how we wielded power (boldly) and dealt with employees.

At 50, he is too young to retreat from banking altogether. But where to go after running the world's largest private bank by assets? This coming year, chatter will persist that Zeltner might be headed for Julius Baer, where CEO Boris Collardi recently defected to Pictet.
