Industrywide Demand

Growing demand for ease of access into alternatives spans across the broader investor community. According to a recent Natixis survey, 75 percent of chief investment officers and other investment staff from life, property and casualty, and reinsurance firms named the asset class as essential with 53 percent using it as a fixed income replacement. And not unlike others, access was cited as a hurdle due to the illiquid nature of alternatives and regulator’s capital requirements in the region.

In addition to hedge funds, ASI has also some private market success stories to boast about in the region, having attracted $200-300 million in inflows from Taiwan investors with Hong Kong and Singapore discussions underway.

«We are among the very few with a global private market fund that provides monthly liquidity,» Hendry added. «For the average joe with a total wealth of a million dollars, you may not be able to afford a 7-year lock-up and minimum subscription of $100,000 with a 3-month wait for every time you need liquidity.»
