The bank is enhancing its KidSmart Programme by partnering with Prudential Singapore and Nickelodeon Asia.
UOB has announced a partnership with insurer Prudential Singapore to add a suite of protection and endowment plans to its KidSmart Programme and with children's television channel Nickelodeon Asia to help kids discover their strengths in new areas, the bank said in a press release on Thursday.
The bank noted that 70 percent of its customers do not use insurance solutions to protect and grow their assets, and the new plans with Prudential «ensure that the plans for their children can weather rainy days.»
The new Academy of Smarts microsite builds on UOB's KidSmart assessment by tieing popular Nickelodeon characters and tasks suited to their children's strengths. There will be online activities and on-ground activities and game booths at roadshows during school holidays, the statement said.
Nurturing Children's' Potential
Launched in 2016, the KidSmart Programme is «designed to help parents discover and nurture their child's true potential» and help parents in planning better for their child’s future.
«By improving the way children identify their natural talents and helping parents protect and grow their wealth more holistically, we can ensure more Singaporean children reach their full potential,» Jacquelyn Tan, UOB head of Personal Financial Services, Singapore, said about the enhancements.
The online portal includes an online assessments for children to discover their «unique combination of smarts» that cannot be measured through typical IQ tests. Based on Harvard professor Dr Howard Gardner's theory of multiple intelligences, it seeks to uncover areas where children might have potential, includes kinesthetic, logic, musical, interpersonal skills, spatial, language and more, from as early as 3 to 12 years old.
