A $3 billion Asian family office is poaching a long-standing UBS private banker for a new office in Switzerland's leading financial capital.
Singapore-based Taurus Wealth is hiring Andre Tomasini to open a new office in Zurich, it said in a statement on Thursday. The Swiss banker was most recently head of wealth management for Russia as well as CIS and Israel at UBS, where he was a managing director.
The move comes as part of an international expansion including bolstering its team in Dubai as well as a planned office in London this year, Taurus said. The family office, which oversees $3 billion in assets, said it beefed up expertise in originating private market investments and bespoke real estate structured products, and wants to develop an impact and fintech offering.

The 12-year-old Singapore-based firm, founded and run by Mandeep Nalwa, partnered with an unnamed European family office last year. It said it is simplifying its brand to Taurus Wealth, as part of a strategy to «internationalize our service offering to an increasingly multi-ethnic and international clientele across many geographies.»
The hire of Tomasini, a Swiss lawyer who joined UBS in 1998 and rose through the private bank's ranks, is a major coup for the Asian minnow. He has worked in the Middle East as well as Switzerland during his 23-year career with the Swiss wealth giant.
