Companies raised 50 percent more funds through the equity capital markets in 2021 compared to the same period in 2019, prior to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Initial Public Offering (IPO) activity in Southeast Asia is at record levels, with companies in Southeast Asia raising $4.9 billion through IPOs in the first six months of 2021, according to «Bloomberg» data.
Indonesia led the region in deal count, with 23 companies listing shares on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in the first half of the year, while the most funds were raised in Thailand, which accounted for 57 percent of the amount raised from offerings in Southeast Asia, at $2.8 billion, followed by the Philippines at $1.3 billion and Indonesia at $503 million.
Oil & Gas, Food and Diversified Financial Services were the top three sectors for IPOs. According to «Bloomberg,» the new listings saw an average return of 59 percent in their first month of trading.
