UBS has hired a former investment banker from Citic CLSA as its head of China technology media and telecommunications, according to a note seen by finews.asia

Elvis He joins UBS as its head of China TMT, according to the note, reporting to head of Asia Pacific TMT Patrick Tsang.

He has more than 15 years of industry experience, most recently with Citic CLSA where he was its head of TMT for the past four years.

New Economy Initiative

In his Hong Kong-based role, He will work closely with Binnie Wong, managing director and team head of the new economy strategy business development team on the 'New Economy' initiative – a key growth initiative for UBS in the region.

«We believe that China continues to present significant opportunities, with TMT standing out as one of the most dynamic and exciting areas,» said Gaetano Bassolino, head of global banking APAC, UBS Investment Bank. «We will continue to invest in Global Banking and in Asia to further strengthen our position in these areas.»

A spokesperson for the bank confirmed the new hire.
