In the latest in a series of additions, Guggenheim Securities said Monday it has brought on Alexander Ramirez as a senior managing director for its technology, media and telecom (TMT) investment banking practice.

Ramirez, who will start at the New York office in April, will focus on advising companies in the telecom and network infrastructure sectors, the investment banking and capital markets division of Guggenheim Partners said in a press release.

Most recently, Ramirez was the managing director of Citigroup’s global TMT group, leading its coverage of the data center industry, the statement said.

‘Extensive sector knowledge’

«Alex is a well-respected advisor in the digital infrastructure sector. With his deep relationships and extensive sector knowledge, as well as experience advising on landmark transactions in the industry, he will be a significant addition to our TMT investment banking team,» Mark Van Lith, CEO of Guggenheim Securities, said in the statement.

Ramirez’s hiring follows Guggenheim Securities adding a series of other new names in 2021, including Justin Peagram, who was set to join the sustainability investment banking practice in October. Peagram had been the managing director in the sustainable and impact banking team at Barclays.

In September, Guggenheim Securities had named Peter Moses as joining its consumer and retail investment banking group as a senior managing director, coming from Rothschild, where he was the managing director and head of North America consumer and retail.

Adding to fintech practice

The investment bank also announced in August that Roshan Punjabi and Avi Upreti joined as managing directors to expand the fintech practice and would advise on payments, software, insurance, data and security. Both Upreti and Punjabi joined from Moelis, after previously working at Deutsche Bank.

Guggenheim Securities offers advisory, financing, sales and trading, and research services. Guggenheim Partners is a diversified financial services firm operating through two main businesses, asset manager and investment advisor Guggenheim Investments and investment banker Guggenheim Securities.

Guggenheim Partners had assets under management of $340 billion as of end-2021, according to its website.
