The Office of the Attorney General of Switzerland has launched an investigation in connection with the data leak at Credit Suisse, but not against the bank itself.
About a year ago, Credit Suisse made headlines because of a data leak related to «Swiss Secrets». At the time, the investigations were coordinated by the international journalists' network Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP), to which the internal data set had been leaked.
Credit Suisse was accused of having counted criminals, controversial heads of state, and corrupt officials among its clients for decades.
Complaint Comes From Credit Suisse
Now, The Office of the Attorney General of Switzerland has opened an investigation, it confirmed to news agencies AFP and Keystone-SDA. It is looking into whether banking secrecy was violated or whether industrial espionage was involved.
This confirms a report by «Tamedia» (in German, behind paywall) newspapers on Thursday. According to the online portal Gotham City, the complaint comes from Credit Suisse.
