Hong Kong will officially end its Covid mask mandate after nearly 1,000 days of instating the rule.

As of Wednesday, masks will no longer be required in Hong Kong, be it indoor or outdoor settings, according to a report by government-owned media outlet «RTHK»  citing chief executive John Lee.

«With the masking requirement removed, we are starting to resume to normalcy comprehensively and that will be very beneficial to the economic development, international competitiveness, as well as our activities which involve everyone in Hong Kong,» Lee said at a press briefing.

Tomorrow marks an end to the final Covid-linked restriction in Hong Kong and one of the world’s longest-lasting mask mandates at 945 days.
