Now well into its 15th year of existence, finance portal finews makes a film tracing its birth from the uncertainty of the 2008 financial crisis – all the way to this year's turbulence.
finews.ch was conceived in the cauldron of the global financial crisis (GFC) as a way of delivering information and news about the Swiss financial sector quickly, competently – and dependably. The website was one of the first online pure plays in Switzerland to take up the task of communicating breaking events and issues in a specific sector.
In the meantime, the country is in the midst of another banking crisis, as exemplified by the collapse of its second-largest bank, Credit Suisse. Although 15 years now lie between the two crises, finews.ch and its sister websites have been there to report on everything relevant in finance – and more.
Expansion to Singapore and Hong Kong
In 2014, the English service, finews.com, went live, adding an integral new element to the original German website. That was followed by 2015's expansion to Singapore and the launch of finews.asia. Since 2017, it has been present in Hong Kong as well.
At the end of 2021, finewsticino.ch was launched to cover all activities around the financial hub near Lugano and Northern Italy.
More Than One Million Readers
The parent, Finews AG, based in Zurich, has been profitable for ten years now. Moreover, the recent events surrounding Credit Suisse and UBS over the past few weeks have prompted a significant increase in readership.
Currently, finews.ch and finews.com have about 1.31 million returning unique users a month as well as 3.55 million page views. On finews.asia, those numbers are 303,000 and 492,000 respectively (all information provided is based on Google Analytics)
Comprehensive, Relevant, and Dependable Reporting
All the editors of finews would like to thank its faithful readership and their clear appreciation for comprehensive, relevant, and dependable reporting – day in and day out. They are more than key to the incredible success of the «Finews Group».
