The latest of returned gifts from alleged 1MDB mastermind Low Taek Jho included a vintage poster of «King Kong», a Jean-Basquiat drawing and several luxury watches.
Joey McFarland, the producer of «Wolf of Wall Street» which allegedly received support from Low, returned the gifts and claimed he did not know that they had been bought with funds from 1MDB, according to federal court filings in Los Angeles. Other posters McFarland has also agreed to return include Fritz Lang’s German film «M» from 1931, the sci-fi film «Forbidden Planet» from 1956, and «Cool Hand Luke» from 1967.
«Wolf of Wall Street’s» film production company, Red Granite Pictures, was co-founded by McFarland and Riza Aziz, stepson of former Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak.
U.S. documents claimed that Aziz spent at least $5.4 million on collectible movie posters given to a number of individuals including McFarland, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Martin Scorsese.
