Former Asia CEO of BSI and 45-year banking veteran Hanspeter Brunner has released a book retelling the story of the 1MDB scandal.

Hanspeter Brunner has released a book about the 1MDB scandal entitled «The Art of Greed: A Novel of the Rise and Fall of the Asian Great Gatsby», which is available on Amazon.

From 2010 to 2016, Brunner was the Asia CEO of BSI, a now-defunct lender whose license was revoked by the Monetary Authority of Singapore over serious 1MDB-related money laundering breaches. Three ex-BSI bankers were previously convicted in the case. Brunner was not found to have committed any wrongdoing.

«After this ordeal, I decided to write a book,» Brunner said in a LinkedIn post. «In my book, the mastermind behind the fraud, Jho Low, tells his story about greed, outrageous parties, celebrities, murder, politics and how he manipulated bankers, lawyers, auditors and many more.»

«Imagined Retelling»

Various details are covered, including Ivanka Trump’s rejection of an invitation to party at the Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino.

«This imagined retelling of Jho Low’s story, based on real events, gives readers an insider’s view of the glitzy, glamorous world of wealth and privilege, as well as a close-up look at this enigmatic protagonist’s high-stakes fall from grace,» according to a summary of the book.

Brunner is a 45-year financial veteran and the first Swiss banker in China. Prior to joining BSI, which was acquired by BTG Pactual before exchanging hands once more to EFG, he worked at Credit Suisse for 27 years in senior roles such as head of North Asia, overseeing offices in South Korea, Beijing and Hong Kong.
