Liechtenstein's VP Bank has put an industry veteran in charge of its intermediaries business in Asia which it aims to strenghten.
VP Bank, based in Vaduz, has hired Sylvain Gysler (pictured below) as head of its intermediaries business in Asia, commencing this month, according to a report by «Hubbis», a financial news portal.
Gysler was previously head of the independent asset managers and multi-family offices division in Hong Kong and Singapore at Swiss private bank Pictet. He has more than 15 years experience in the private-banking and wealth management industry, including stints with Union Bancaire Privée and Credit Suisse in Geneva, Zurich and Asia and has been in Singapore since 2008.
VP Bank shuttered its own nascent private-banking business, which was struggling to compete with more established players at the end of 2012 to focus on the intermediaries business, which it identified as a strong point of the company.
