Manulife Asset Management has made a significant appointment in Hong Kong on their Capital Markets and Strategy Team
Geoff Lewis has joined Manulife Asset Management as Senior Strategist, Asia, on the Capital Markets & Strategy team, according to a press release sent on Monday. Lewis, who is based in Hong Kong, will report directly to Bob Boyda, team head in Boston, and locally to Peter Warnes, Senior Managing Director, Head of Portfolio Solutions Group, International.
Most recently Lewis was with J.P. Morgan Asset Management in Hong Kong, first as a bridge between investors and portfolio managers and more recently as Global Market Strategist focusing on Asia. Prior to his role at J.P. Morgan, he was Chief Economist for Dresdner, Kleinwort Benson and prior to that, Smith New Court Far East.
UK Treasury Role
Lewis also worked on policy development for the Economics division of the UK Treasury, and on economic planning on behalf of a co-operative arrangement between the UK and Japan.
«Geoff brings to our firm more than 40 years’ experience as an economist. In his new role, he will be a key contributor to our capital markets, asset allocation and active management teams in Canada and the US, providing thought leadership insights centered on Asia across a wide array of equity, fixed income, currency and commodity markets,» said Boyda.
As at September 30, 2015, assets under management for Manulife Asset Management were approximately $294 billion.
