Asian centric U.K. bank Standard Chartered Bank has today announced the appointment of a new Chief Information Officer (CIO), Retail Banking.
James Dolphin will be based in Singapore and will report directly to Group CIO, Michael Gorriz. The appointment will be effective in March 2016.
Dolphin joins Standard Chartered from Capital One where he has been CIO, Retail and Direct Banking since 2012. In this role, he was instrumental in leading Capital One’s digital transformation strategy for the retail business by instilling a software development culture as the platform for change and building strong engineering teams.

On the back of recent losses Standard Chartered has been busy restructuring its senior management and calibrating its strategy which has included plans to cut 15,000 jobs from its 86,000 global workforce by 2018, while seeking to raise more than US$5 billion in new capital.
