The bank has named a veteran who is familiar with the region to take over from Catherine Low, who returns to a front-office role within ING.

Dutch multinational banking and financial services corporation ING has named Erwin Maspolim as branch manager of Singapore, effective 1 October, subject to regulatory approval, the firm said in a press release on Wednesday.

Catherine Low, who has held the role since 2012, will remain with the bank as regional head of lending for Asia Pacific, and oversees all lending and transaction services, including sustainable finance.

Maspolim will also be ING's network head for Southeast Asia, which covers Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam. He reports to Gerrit Stoelinga, regional head of wholesale banking, Asia Pacific. 

Long Experience

Maspolim was previously ING's s managing director and Asia Pacific head of Utilities, Power & Renewables. He has been with the bank for 25 years, 16 of which in Singapore, holding a range of front-office roles covering sectors such as power, utilities, renewables, water, waste and infrastructure in Asia, Australia and New Zealand. 

Singapore is ING's Asia Pacific headquarters and employs close to 600 staff in the city-state. Across Asia Pacific, ING's regional network covers 14 markets.
