A British investment banker played a key role in the development and communication of Tidjane Thiam’s strategy for Credit Suisse. He will leave the firm at the same time as his boss.
Adam Gishen joined Credit Suisse in the autumn of 2015 when the then-new chief executive announced the new strategy for the bank. And he is now due to leave the bank at the same time as Tidjane Thiam, according to a report by «Tages-Anzeiger» (behind paywall). Gishen didn't immediately respond to a request for information by finews.asia.
Before joining Credit Suisse, Gishen had been a partner at London-based investment-banking boutique Ondra and in that capacity acted as an adviser to Thiam. At the Swiss bank, Gishen first worked as a senior adviser to Thiam, before taking charge of investor relations and later of the communications department of the bank. A year ago, in the course of a reshuffle, he assumed additional responsibilities, as reported by finews.asia.
One of Thiam's Core Group
Gishen was part of a core group of high-ranking executives at Credit Suisse that had joined the bank with Thiam. Other members of that group were Chief Operating Officer Pierre-Olivier Bouée, who was fired in connection with the spygate scandal, and Peter Goerke, the former human resources boss.
Thiam was forced to announce his departure last week because the reputation of the bank had been tainted by the spying activities against former executives (including a surveillance operation against Goerke). The communications department led by Gishen had to shoulder some of the blame for the scandal that led to several investigations including one by the banking regulator.
