Barclays has hired a former UBS executive as part of broader plans to boost collaboration between its private and investment banking units.
Barclays appointed Evonne Tan as head of Barclays Private Bank, Singapore, according to a statement, reporting to James Penny, head of Asia ex-India, private bank.
Tan has 25 years of financial services experience, joining from UBS where she was a market team head responsible for the ultra-high net worth (UHNW) Singapore business. Previously, she held various roles at Morgan Stanley, Merrill Lynch and Deutsche Bank across global markets and wealth management.
«One Bank» Business
Tan has been tasked with building collaboration between the private bank and Barclays’ corporate and investment bank in Singapore – oft-dubbed the «one bank» model – to provide clients with tailored investment propositions and access to sophisticated products and services.
«Singapore serves as a strategically important location for Barclays in Asia Pacific, especially Southeast Asia where we have a robust client base,» said Barclays Private Bank chief executive Jean-Christophe Gerard. «By further strengthening our presence here, we see this appointment as a great opportunity for us to serve UHNWIs and family offices.»
«We have been a prominent Corporate and Investment Bank in the region for over 50 years, with a strong private bank presence in India,» added APAC head Jaideep Khanna. «Enhancing access to our private bank capabilities in Singapore aligns to our existing strategy of delivering the entire bank to our clients.»
