J.P. Morgan Appoints APAC Vice Chair
A 30-year financial veteran has joined J.P. Morgan as its regional vice chair, finews.asia has learned.
J.P. Morgan has appointed Alex To as vice chair of Asia Pacific, according to an internal memo seen by finews.asia. Based in Hong Kong, he will report to APAC CEO Sjoerd Leenart.
To has over 30 years of experience in banking and alternatives asset management, most recently as CEO of CDH Investments. Prior to that, he held multiple senior roles including co-head of APAC investment banking and co-head of global corporate and investment banking at Bank of America as well as chairman of China investment banking at Morgan Stanley.
Strategic MD Hires
The American lender has recently been making a number of strategic hires of managing directors in the APAC region.
This includes Dragi Ristevski as co-head of general industrials and head of financial sponsors for Australia and New Zealand, Justin Grimmond as head of equity capital markets (ECM) for Australia, David Cameron-Smail as head of Southeast Asia ECM, Satoshi Shimada as head of Japan M&A and Yuya Sugimoto as head of financial sponsors coverage for Japan.
In addition, Jonas Troeber is relocating to Hong Kong to join the APAC equity syndicate team as deputy head. The bank also promoted seven investment bankers to become managing directors throughout the region.
