A 17-year ING banker has been named as the successor for the role of Shanghai branch manager.
Annie Tao has been appointed as branch manager for Shanghai, according to a statement, effective October 1 and subject to regulatory approval.
Tao will retain her existing role as head of corporate sector coverage in Shanghai and report to James Poon, country manager for China, branch manager of ING Hong Kong and head of corporate sector coverage for Hong Kong and mainland China.
She succeeds Arthur Zou who left in March to pursue an external opportunity.
17-Year ING Banker
Tao joined ING in 2004 as vice president and head of general lending Shanghai. She was promoted to director in 2007, managing director in 2018 and, in her most recent role, deputy branch manager since 2008.
Previously, she also worked for MUFG Bank China and Intesa Sanpaolo SpA China.
«Our strategic focus in China continues to emphasize supporting Chinese businesses looking for overseas expansion,» Poon said. «[Tao’s] career at ING has seen her taking on various responsibilities in MNC and local client coverage, business strategy formulation and execution as well as branch operations. The depth of her experience is an asset in further growing our business in China.»
