Credit Suisse has reshuffled several senior positions within its Asia Pacific investment banking unit with internal appointments and new additions, according to an internal memo seen by finews.asia.

Credit Suisse has reshuffled various top positions in its regional investment banking unit, particularly for Southeast Asia and frontier markets.

«We are delighted to announce these appointments who are the next generation of leaders in our investment banking & capital markets (IBCM) franchise in Asia,» said APAC co-head of IBCM Edwin Low in an internal memo seen by finews.asia.

«These internal promotions reflect Credit Suisse’s deep talent bench, which is a successful result of our commitment to train and nurture our junior staff for future leadership roles. In addition, this also helps the bank with an orderly succession plan and creates a team with an inherent long-term control culture.»

Mergers & Acquisitions

Joe Gallagher will step back from his role as APAC head of M&A to focus on his other roles as vice chairman of IBCM APAC and chairman of the APAC investment banking committee.

Christian Deiss succeeds Gallagher as the new APAC head of M&A who has been promoted to the role after a 23-year investment banking career at Credit Suisse. He was most recently a managing director co-heading industrials, energy & infrastructure coverage for the region.

Joining the team is Christopher Chua who has been named APAC deputy head of M&A, in addition to his existing role as Greater China head of M&A. Chua has been with Credit Suisse for 17 years, working in the bank’s Hong Kong and Singapore offices.

In addition to the broader region, the bank also appointed Zi-Kuan Lim as head of M&A for Southeast Asia and frontier markets after joining the bank 18 years ago in Singapore.

Industrials, Energy and Infrastructure

And with Deiss’ appointment, the bank has also announced appointments for a dedicated team covering industrials, energy and infrastructure.

Southeast Asia and Frontier Markets

After working for Credit Suisse for over a decade, Kuan-Ern Tan has been named co-head of IBCM, Southeast Asia and frontier markets, succeeding Pankaj Goel.

Goel is leaving Credit Suisse after first joining in 2004 to pursue opportunities outside of investment banking.

Angeline Aw has been appointed as head of Singapore coverage, IBCM, after first joining Credit Suisse in 2004.

Strengthening specific sector coverage for the sub-regions, Credit Suisse hired Angelo Coloma who rejoins the bank as head of real estate coverage, Southeast Asia and frontier markets, after first leaving in 2016 following an eight-year stint.

Joining from UBS’ investment banking unit is Harish Kumar who has been named a director to lead coverage for the tech, media and telecoms sector in Southeast Asia and frontier markets.
