Hong Kong virtual bank Mox has hired a former ING banker as its chief executive.
Barbaros Uygun joins Mox as CEO, according to a statement, succeeding Deniz Güven.
Güven will step down as Mox CEO and executive director of the board, effective September 27, to pursue a new business venture but will continue to serve as a special adviser to Standard Chartered on «a number of important digital initiatives».
«[Güven] has made an immense contribution, building Mox from the ground up,» said Mox chairman Mary Huen. «Under his leadership, Mox has secured our virtual banking licence, launched multiple innovative services, won the heart share of over 170,000 customers and become one of the highest-rated financial apps in Hong Kong.»
Transformation Experience
Uygun has over 24 years of banking experience across business management and strategy, marketing, product development and digital transformation.
He was previously of CEO of ING Bank Austria where he transformed it from a savings-focused bank to a full service digital bank. Previously, he also held various other leadership positions at ING Bank and Garanti Bank BBVA.
